Which technology companies in Kansas sponsor Green Card visas?
Garmin, headquartered in Olathe, is one of the most active technology employers in Kansas and has a track record of sponsoring Green Cards for engineering and software roles. Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) maintains a significant presence in the Kansas City metro. Aerospace and defense technology contractors near Wichita, including Spirit AeroSystems, also sponsor permanent residence for qualified technology professionals. Larger national tech firms with Kansas offices frequently sponsor through their corporate immigration programs.
Which cities in Kansas have the most technology Green Card sponsorship jobs?
The Kansas City metro side of Kansas, particularly Overland Park, Lenexa, and Olathe in Johnson County, accounts for the largest share of technology Green Card sponsorship activity in the state. This suburban corridor hosts headquarters and regional offices for Garmin, Oracle Health, and numerous IT consulting firms. Wichita is the second-largest technology employment center, driven by aerospace technology and manufacturing software roles. Topeka has a smaller but active government technology sector.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Kansas?
Software engineers, data engineers, cloud architects, cybersecurity analysts, and DevOps engineers are among the technology roles most commonly sponsored for Green Cards in Kansas. These positions typically meet the specialty occupation requirements for EB-2 and EB-3 classifications because they require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. Roles in embedded systems, avionics software, and navigation technology are particularly common in Kansas given the presence of Garmin and aerospace employers in the region.
How do I find technology Green Card sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, including Green Card sponsorship for technology roles in Kansas. You can filter by state and visa type to see which Kansas employers are actively hiring and willing to sponsor permanent residence. Focusing your search on the Overland Park and Wichita metro areas will surface the highest concentration of technology sponsorship opportunities, particularly at employers with established immigration programs like Garmin and Oracle Health.
Are there any state-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in technology roles in Kansas?
Kansas does not impose state-level immigration requirements beyond federal law, so the Green Card process follows standard PERM labor certification, I-140 petition, and adjustment of status or consular processing steps regardless of where in Kansas you work. One practical consideration is that the Kansas City metro straddles the Kansas-Missouri border, meaning some sponsoring employers are technically headquartered in Missouri while employing workers in Kansas. Your work location, not the employer's headquarters address, determines your state for immigration-related work purposes.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card technology jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
