Which companies sponsor visas for maintenance workers in Kansas?
Spirit AeroSystems and Textron Aviation in Wichita are among the more active sponsors for maintenance roles, given Kansas's strong aerospace manufacturing base. Large industrial employers tied to Koch Industries subsidiaries, as well as utility companies and food processing plants throughout the state, have filed Labor Condition Applications for maintenance positions. Sponsorship activity tends to follow capital-intensive operations that face skilled labor shortages.
Which visa types are most common for maintenance roles in Kansas?
The H-1B visa applies to maintenance roles that qualify as specialty occupations, typically requiring a relevant engineering or technical bachelor's degree. Maintenance technician and facilities engineer roles with an engineering degree requirement are the most likely to qualify. The EB-3 immigrant visa is another pathway sometimes used for skilled maintenance workers. The specific visa type depends on the role's educational requirements and the employer's willingness to sponsor.
Which cities in Kansas have the most maintenance visa sponsorship jobs?
Wichita accounts for the largest share of maintenance sponsorship activity in Kansas, driven by its concentration of aerospace manufacturing and industrial facilities. Topeka and Kansas City (Kansas side) also see meaningful activity through utilities, food processing, and large distribution operations. Smaller industrial hubs like Salina and Hutchinson occasionally have openings tied to manufacturing and agricultural processing facilities.
How to find maintenance visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find maintenance roles in Kansas where employers are open to visa sponsorship. You can filter specifically by state and job category to surface relevant openings without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. Because maintenance sponsorship in Kansas is concentrated in aerospace, manufacturing, and facilities management, focusing your search on those industries within Migrate Mate will produce the most targeted results.
Are there state-specific considerations for maintenance sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Kansas's prevailing wage requirements for sponsored maintenance roles are set by the Department of Labor based on the specific job title, location, and skill level, with Wichita metro wages differing from rural Kansas rates. The state's aerospace and aviation industry creates demand for maintenance professionals with FAA-related credentials, which can strengthen a sponsorship case. Employers in Kansas's agricultural processing sector also occasionally sponsor maintenance roles where specialized technical skills are in short supply.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored maintenance jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
