Which companies sponsor visas for project leaders in Kansas?
Spirit AeroSystems and Textron Aviation in Wichita are among the most active sponsors for project leaders in Kansas, particularly in aerospace and manufacturing. Koch Industries sponsors international talent across engineering and operations project management. Garmin, headquartered in Olathe, regularly files H-1B petitions for technical project roles. Federal defense contractors operating near Fort Leavenworth and McConnell Air Force Base also hire internationally for program and project leadership positions.
Which visa types are most common for project leader roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for project leaders in Kansas, particularly for roles requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, business, or a related specialty field. Canadians and Mexicans in project management may qualify under the TN visa. Candidates with multinational employer backgrounds sometimes transfer on an L-1A or L-1B. Australian citizens should explore the E-3 visa as an alternative to the H-1B.
Which cities in Kansas have the most project leader sponsorship jobs?
Wichita is Kansas's primary hub for project leader sponsorship jobs, driven by its concentration of aerospace manufacturers and defense contractors. The Kansas City metro area, which extends into Kansas through cities like Overland Park and Olathe, is the second most active market and covers technology, logistics, and corporate project management. Topeka and Manhattan have smaller but active markets tied to state government, healthcare, and Kansas State University research operations.
How to find project leader visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters project leader roles in Kansas by visa sponsorship history, so you can focus on employers who have actually sponsored before rather than applying broadly. The platform surfaces openings across Wichita's aerospace sector, the Overland Park and Olathe technology corridor, and defense-adjacent roles statewide. Filtering by role and state on Migrate Mate is the most direct way to identify active Kansas sponsors for project leadership positions.
Are there state-specific considerations for project leaders seeking visa sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas project leader roles in aerospace and defense often require security clearance eligibility, which can complicate or delay sponsorship for some visa categories. The Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirements apply to all H-1B petitions, and wages are benchmarked to the Wichita or Kansas City metropolitan statistical area depending on job location. Kansas State University and the University of Kansas supply a pipeline of OPT-eligible candidates that some employers actively recruit, making STEM OPT extension pathways particularly relevant in this market.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project leader jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
