Which healthcare companies sponsor H-1B1 Chile visas in Maryland?
Maryland's largest healthcare employers with documented H-1B1 Chile sponsorship activity include Johns Hopkins Health System, University of Maryland Medical System, MedStar Health, and Inova (which operates across the DC-Maryland metro). Federal health agencies such as NIH and FDA, both headquartered in Montgomery County, also sponsor Chilean professionals in clinical and research-focused roles. Sponsorship patterns can be verified through OFLC Labor Condition Application disclosure data.
Which cities in Maryland have the most healthcare H-1B1 Chile sponsorship jobs?
Baltimore concentrates the highest volume of healthcare H-1B1 Chile sponsorship opportunities, driven by its dense network of academic medical centers and specialty hospitals. Bethesda and Rockville in Montgomery County follow closely, given the presence of NIH, FDA, and a large cluster of biotech and health services firms. Columbia and Silver Spring also generate consistent demand in hospital administration and outpatient care.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for H-1B1 Chile sponsorship?
Roles that qualify must meet the H-1B1 visa specialty occupation standard, requiring at least a U.S. bachelor's degree or equivalent in a directly related field. In Maryland's healthcare sector, qualifying positions commonly include physicians, registered nurses with advanced credentials, clinical researchers, biostatisticians, health informatics specialists, public health analysts, and medical scientists. General aide or technician roles without a degree requirement typically do not qualify.

Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B1 Chile healthcare sponsorship in Maryland?
Maryland's proximity to federal health agencies like NIH and FDA creates sponsorship opportunities that are uncommon in most other states, particularly for public health and research roles. State licensure requirements for clinical positions, such as those administered by the Maryland Board of Physicians or Maryland Board of Nursing, must be satisfied independently of the H-1B1 application. Employers in Maryland's academic medical centers are generally experienced with H-1B1 Chile filings, though sponsorship decisions remain employer-specific.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 Chile healthcare jobs in Maryland?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
