Which companies sponsor visas for industrial engineers in Massachusetts?
Raytheon Technologies, General Electric, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Boston Scientific, and Philips are among the employers in Massachusetts with documented histories of sponsoring H-1B visas for industrial engineers. Defense and medical device manufacturers along the Route 128 corridor are particularly active sponsors, as are contract manufacturers and logistics-focused companies in the Greater Boston area.
Which visa types are most common for industrial engineers in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa for industrial engineers in Massachusetts, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or a closely related field. Candidates with a master's degree may benefit from the advanced degree exemption in the H-1B lottery. Engineers from Canada or Mexico may also qualify under the TN visa, which has no lottery and no annual cap.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most industrial engineer sponsorship jobs?
Greater Boston, including Cambridge and Waltham, generates the highest volume of industrial engineer sponsorship opportunities, driven by biotech, medical devices, and defense. Worcester is a secondary hub with strong advanced manufacturing and healthcare manufacturing employers. Lowell and Andover also see consistent demand from electronics and aerospace suppliers operating facilities along the I-495 corridor.
How to find industrial engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles offering visa sponsorship, so you can search industrial engineer positions in Massachusetts without sorting through employers unlikely to sponsor. The platform surfaces openings from manufacturers, defense contractors, and biotech companies across Greater Boston and central Massachusetts. Setting up a targeted search on Migrate Mate by role and state is the most direct way to identify active sponsoring employers.
Are there any state-specific factors that affect industrial engineer visa sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts has a high concentration of research-driven employers, which means many industrial engineer roles are tied to production optimization in regulated industries like medical devices and pharmaceuticals. These environments often require specific compliance knowledge, which strengthens the specialty occupation case for H-1B purposes. Massachusetts also has several university pipelines, including UMass Amherst and Northeastern, that employers draw from when hiring and sponsoring international engineering graduates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored industrial engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
