Which companies sponsor visas for mobile engineers in Massachusetts?
Boston-area employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories for mobile and software engineering roles include HubSpot, Wayfair, Fidelity Investments, Liberty Mutual, Toast, and Rapid7. Cambridge's biotech corridor, including companies like Moderna and Biogen, also hires mobile engineers to support internal platforms. Massachusetts General Hospital and other large health systems have sponsored engineering roles for patient-facing mobile applications as well.
Which visa types are most common for mobile engineer roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa for mobile engineers in Massachusetts, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Some employers also sponsor L-1B visas for intracompany transferees with specialized mobile platform knowledge. Australians may pursue the E-3 visa, which functions similarly to the H-1B but bypasses the annual lottery.
How to find mobile engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search mobile engineer roles in Massachusetts without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform surfaces openings across Boston, Cambridge, and surrounding tech hubs from employers with active sponsorship programs. Filtering by state and role together significantly narrows the field compared to general job searching.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most mobile engineer sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the largest share of mobile engineer sponsorship activity in Massachusetts, anchored by the Seaport District tech cluster, Kendall Square, and the Back Bay office corridor. Waltham and Burlington along Route 128 host a significant number of enterprise tech employers that sponsor engineering roles. Worcester is a smaller but growing market, with UMass-affiliated tech activity contributing to local hiring.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific factors mobile engineers should know before pursuing visa sponsorship?
Massachusetts participates in the federal prevailing wage system, so sponsoring employers must pay mobile engineers at or above the Department of Labor wage level for the role and location, which reflects the state's generally higher cost of living compared to national averages. The state's deep university pipeline, including MIT, Northeastern, and Boston University, means many local employers are experienced with OPT-to-H-1B transitions, which can be an advantage for candidates already in the U.S. on student visas.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored mobile engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
