Which companies sponsor visas for product software engineers in Massachusetts?
Several well-known Massachusetts employers have consistent track records of sponsoring product software engineers, including HubSpot, Wayfair, Fidelity Investments, MathWorks, Rapid7, Toast, and Klaviyo. Larger firms like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft also maintain significant Massachusetts engineering offices with active sponsorship programs. Checking a company's public Labor Condition Application filings is a reliable way to verify sponsorship history before applying.
Which visa types are most common for product software engineer roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for product software engineers in Massachusetts, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates from Australia may pursue the E-3 visa, Canadians and Mexicans the TN visa, and those with extraordinary ability may qualify for the O-1A. Employer-sponsored green card petitions under the EB-2 or EB-3 categories are also common for longer-term hires.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most product software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the largest share of product software engineer sponsorship opportunities in Massachusetts, anchored by the Seaport District tech cluster and Kendall Square's concentration of technology and life sciences companies. The Route 128 corridor, including Waltham, Burlington, and Woburn, also has a significant number of established technology employers. Worcester is a smaller but growing market, particularly for companies connected to WPI and Clark University graduates.
How to find product software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?

Because not all job postings explicitly mention visa sponsorship, using a platform like Migrate Mate that curates sponsoring employers saves significant time compared to manually filtering general job listings.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific considerations for product software engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Massachusetts is a high-cost labor market, so employers filing Labor Condition Applications for product software engineer roles must meet the Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirements for the Boston metropolitan area, which tend to be higher than national averages. The state's dense network of universities, including MIT, Boston University, and Northeastern, also creates a strong pipeline of F-1 OPT candidates, meaning many Massachusetts employers already have established immigration processes in place for engineering hires.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product software engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
