Which companies sponsor visas for project engineers in Massachusetts?
Raytheon Technologies, General Dynamics, Jacobs Engineering, and AECOM are among the employers with documented H-1B sponsorship activity for project engineer roles in Massachusetts. Life sciences firms such as Moderna and Biogen also sponsor project engineers supporting facilities and construction programs. Sponsorship is more common at large defense contractors and established engineering firms than at smaller regional firms.
Which visa types are most common for project engineers in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project engineers in Massachusetts, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa, and Canadian and Mexican nationals may have TN visa options under the USMCA, depending on their specific engineering discipline and job duties.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most project engineer sponsorship jobs?
Greater Boston, including Cambridge, Waltham, and Woburn, accounts for the largest share of project engineer sponsorship activity in Massachusetts, driven by defense, biotech, and infrastructure sectors. Worcester supports manufacturing and civil engineering roles, while the Route 128 corridor hosts significant engineering operations for firms like Raytheon and General Dynamics. The Seaport District has growing demand from life sciences construction and facilities management.
How to find project engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically to employers with a demonstrated history of visa sponsorship, making it easier to identify project engineer roles in Massachusetts without sifting through postings from companies that don't sponsor. You can search by location and role type to focus on Greater Boston, the Route 128 corridor, or other active hiring areas. This saves time compared to searching general job boards where sponsorship status is rarely disclosed upfront.
Are there state-specific considerations for project engineers seeking sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts has a strong university pipeline through MIT, Northeastern, and UMass Amherst, which means employers are generally familiar with sponsoring international engineering graduates. The state's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B roles are benchmarked to local Boston-area rates, which tend to be higher than national averages for project engineers. Defense contractors in Massachusetts also face additional hiring requirements tied to security clearances, which can complicate or limit sponsorship for certain project engineer positions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
