A Snapshot of Your Day
This position is a new addition for business continuity within the Switchgears Jackson manufacturing facility, reporting to the Circuit Breaker Product Business. The role is critical for leading the implementation of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and overseeing other digital factory responsibilities to support modern manufacturing operations. To meet these objectives, the role is structured around three core areas: end-to-end project management of the MES rollout, cross-functional stakeholder collaboration, and comprehensive user enablement. This approach ensures the project is delivered on schedule while aligning local factory needs with global standards and driving successful adoption on the shop floor. Given the focus on deploying digital systems in a manufacturing context, the ideal candidate will possess proven project management capabilities from a heavy industrial environment. Essential requirements include strong communication skills to bridge technical and operational teams, and a solid understanding of MES concepts and factory workflows.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
MES Project Management & Implementation
- Lead the local implementation of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), managing the project lifecycle from initial planning and design through go-live and stabilization.
- Develop and maintain project plans, track progress against schedules, manage budget, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure stakeholder alignment across all workstreams.
- Coordinate all MES-related activities on-site, ensuring the system is delivered on time and is configured to support the factory's manufacturing operations effectively.
- Troubleshoot technical and process-related issues during and after implementation to ensure system stability and long-term success.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication
- Act as the primary communication bridge between the local Jackson factory team and the global MES template group, ensuring local requirements are understood and global solutions are adapted appropriately.
- Facilitate regular meetings and workshops with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and IT, to align on business processes and resolve challenges.
- Translate complex technical information and project updates for various audiences, from shop-floor teams to senior leadership, ensuring clarity and shared understanding.
User Enablement & Change Management
- Develop and execute a comprehensive training plan, including workshops and hands-on support, to empower end-users and key personnel in adopting new MES workflows.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for user feedback, questions, and support requests related to the new MES system.
- Champion the adoption of digital work instructions and data collection processes on the shop floor, driving a culture of continuous improvement and digital transformation.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical), Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3 or more years of project management experience in a heavy manufacturing, production, or industrial engineering environment. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa.
- Proven experience with MES concepts (e.g., work centers, routings, digital work instructions, data collection).
- Direct experience with SAP-DM is a plus.
Travel, as needed (~5%).

Which companies sponsor visas for project engineers in Mississippi?
Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula is one of Mississippi's largest engineering employers and has a history of sponsoring skilled technical workers. Energy companies like Chevron and industrial contractors supporting Gulf Coast operations also appear in federal LCA disclosure data for project engineer roles. State infrastructure projects tied to the Army Corps of Engineers create additional demand at firms holding federal contracts.
Which visa types are most common for project engineer roles in Mississippi?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for project engineers in Mississippi, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, or industrial engineering. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose engineering discipline appears on the USMCA occupation list. Employers with multinational operations may also use the L-1B for intracompany transferees with specialized knowledge.
Which cities in Mississippi have the most project engineer sponsorship jobs?
Pascagoula leads due to Ingalls Shipbuilding and the surrounding defense industrial base, which consistently generates project engineer openings. Jackson, as the state capital and largest city, hosts corporate offices and infrastructure contractors. Gulfport and Biloxi on the Gulf Coast attract engineering firms tied to port development, energy, and federal construction projects. These four cities account for the majority of sponsorship activity in the state.
How to find project engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Mississippi?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search project engineer roles in Mississippi without sifting through positions that won't support international candidates. The platform surfaces openings from defense contractors, energy firms, and infrastructure employers active in the state. Setting up a targeted search by role and location on Migrate Mate is the most direct way to identify which Mississippi employers are actively sponsoring right now.
Are there state-specific considerations for project engineers seeking visa sponsorship in Mississippi?
Mississippi's engineering hiring is heavily shaped by federal contracting, particularly through the Department of Defense and Army Corps of Engineers, meaning many roles require security clearance eligibility, which can complicate sponsorship timelines for non-citizens. The state's public universities, including Mississippi State University's engineering programs, create a local graduate pipeline that some employers prioritize. Prevailing wage requirements under H-1B rules apply statewide and are benchmarked to Mississippi's regional wage data, which differs from coastal tech markets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project engineer jobs in Mississippi?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
