Which companies sponsor visas for project engineers in Texas?
Several large employers in Texas have consistent records of sponsoring work visas for project engineers. In the energy sector, ExxonMobil, Chevron Phillips Chemical, and Schlumberger file significant numbers of H-1B petitions. In construction and engineering services, Fluor, Bechtel, and Jacobs Engineering are active sponsors. Samsung Austin Semiconductor and Texas Instruments sponsor project engineers in semiconductor manufacturing.
Which visa types are most common for project engineers in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project engineers in Texas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in engineering. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for the TN visa under the USMCA, which is faster and requires no petition filing. Australian citizens can explore the E-3 visa as an alternative to the H-1B lottery.
Which cities in Texas have the most project engineer sponsorship jobs?
Houston leads by a wide margin, driven by its concentration of energy, petrochemical, and engineering firms. Austin has grown significantly as a technology and semiconductor hub, with companies like Samsung and Applied Materials hiring project engineers. Dallas and Fort Worth support large construction, infrastructure, and defense-related engineering roles, with firms like Jacobs and Lockheed Martin present in the region.
How to find project engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search project engineer roles in Texas without manually screening out employers who don't sponsor. The platform focuses on international candidates, making it more targeted than general job boards. Filtering by Texas and the project engineer role type will surface active openings from employers with sponsorship history in the state.
Are there any Texas-specific factors project engineers should know about visa sponsorship?
Texas has a strong pipeline of engineering graduates from UT Austin, Texas A&M, and Rice University, which means competition for sponsored roles is real. The energy corridor in Houston is one of the densest concentrations of engineering employers in the country, and many firms there have dedicated immigration support infrastructure. H-1B prevailing wage requirements apply based on the specific work location within Texas, so wages in Austin may differ from those in Houston or Midland.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project engineer jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
