Which companies sponsor visas for psychiatric nurses in Massachusetts?
Mass General Brigham, Beth Israel Lahey Health, UMass Memorial Health, and McLean Hospital are among the larger health systems in Massachusetts with documented histories of sponsoring nurses on work visas. Community mental health centers affiliated with state programs also hire internationally, though smaller organizations tend to sponsor less frequently. Checking an employer's H-1B visa or EB-3 filing history through DOL disclosure data can confirm past sponsorship activity before applying.
Which visa types are most common for psychiatric nurse roles in Massachusetts?
The EB-3 immigrant visa is the most common pathway for internationally trained psychiatric nurses in Massachusetts, typically sponsored by employers through the PERM labor certification process. The H-1B is used less frequently for bedside nursing roles but can apply when the position requires advanced clinical or specialized qualifications. Some employers also use TN visa status for Canadian and Mexican nurses who meet the occupational criteria under USMCA.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most psychiatric nurse sponsorship jobs?
Boston consistently has the highest concentration of psychiatric nurse sponsorship opportunities in Massachusetts, driven by its dense cluster of academic medical centers and behavioral health hospitals including McLean and Brigham and Women's. Worcester is a strong secondary market anchored by UMass Memorial Health. Springfield and New Bedford have growing community mental health needs and have seen increased recruitment activity for psychiatric nursing staff in recent years.
How to find psychiatric nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate is a dedicated platform for international job seekers and filters psychiatric nurse roles by state, making it straightforward to identify Massachusetts employers actively offering visa sponsorship. Because sponsorship availability is not always listed on general job postings, using a specialized tool like Migrate Mate saves significant time. Filtering by role and location on Migrate Mate surfaces opportunities specifically tagged for psychiatric nurse candidates in Massachusetts.
Are there any state-specific considerations for psychiatric nurses seeking sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts requires psychiatric nurses to hold a valid RN license from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing, and international nurses must typically pass the NCLEX-RN before any sponsoring employer can proceed with a visa petition. The state's prevailing wage requirements under DOL rules apply to sponsored positions, so employers must meet the wage level set for the Boston-Cambridge-Newton or relevant metropolitan area. Massachusetts also has active nursing unions at several major health systems, which can affect hiring timelines.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored psychiatric nurse jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
