Which companies sponsor visas for psychiatric nurses in Ohio?
The largest sponsors of psychiatric nurses in Ohio include Cleveland Clinic, OhioHealth, University Hospitals, Kettering Health, and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. These health systems have dedicated international recruitment teams and documented H-1B visa and EB-3 sponsorship histories. Smaller community mental health centers and state-operated psychiatric facilities in Ohio also sponsor international nurses, though less frequently than large academic medical centers.
Which visa types are most common for psychiatric nurse roles in Ohio?
Most psychiatric nurses working in Ohio on employer sponsorship hold either an H-1B visa or come through the EB-3 immigrant visa pathway. H-1B sponsorship applies when the role meets specialty occupation criteria, typically requiring a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Many Ohio health systems also support EB-3 green card sponsorship directly, which is common for registered nurses. NCLEX licensure and Ohio Board of Nursing approval are required regardless of visa category.
Which cities in Ohio have the most psychiatric nurse sponsorship jobs?
Cleveland and Columbus account for the majority of psychiatric nurse sponsorship opportunities in Ohio, driven by their concentration of large academic medical centers and behavioral health networks. Cincinnati is a strong third, with University of Cincinnati Medical Center and TriHealth both active in this space. Dayton and Toledo have a smaller but consistent presence, particularly through VA medical centers and regional health systems with documented sponsorship histories.
How to find psychiatric nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find psychiatric nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio. The platform filters roles specifically by sponsorship availability and state, so you're not sifting through listings that don't apply. Ohio's behavioral health market moves quickly, so filtering for active psychiatric nurse postings in Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati on Migrate Mate gives you the clearest picture of which employers are currently hiring internationally.
Are there any state-specific considerations for psychiatric nurses seeking sponsorship in Ohio?
Ohio requires psychiatric nurses to hold an active Ohio RN license issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing. If you trained internationally, credential evaluation through a NCSBN-approved body is required before sitting the NCLEX. Ohio participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, which can streamline multistate practice once licensed. Several Ohio universities, including Case Western Reserve and The Ohio State University, also run graduate psychiatric nursing programs that create local hiring pipelines employers actively use for international recruitment.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored psychiatric nurse jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
