Which companies sponsor visas for system administrators in Massachusetts?
Large Massachusetts employers with consistent H-1B visa sponsorship histories for system administrator roles include Mass General Brigham, Boston Children's Hospital, MIT, Harvard University, Raytheon Technologies, and IBM. Mid-size managed service providers and financial institutions in Boston's financial district also appear regularly in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for system administrator positions.
Which visa types are most common for system administrator roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for system administrators in Massachusetts, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a directly related field. Some employers, particularly universities and research institutions, also sponsor TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals and, in rarer cases, O-1 visas for candidates with exceptional credentials.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most system administrator sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the largest share of system administrator sponsorship activity in Massachusetts, driven by major healthcare networks, universities, and technology firms concentrated there. Worcester is a secondary hub with a growing healthcare and higher-education sector. Burlington and Waltham along the Route 128 corridor also see consistent demand from mid-size and enterprise technology companies.
How to find system administrator visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to browse system administrator roles in Massachusetts without sorting through positions that won't support work authorization. You can search by role and state to surface employers actively hiring sysadmins who are open to sponsoring H-1B or other work visas, saving significant time compared to unfiltered job searches.
Are there any state-specific considerations for system administrators seeking sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts has a large concentration of defense contractors such as Raytheon and Leidos that hire system administrators, but many of those roles require security clearances that are generally unavailable to foreign nationals, which limits sponsorship in that segment. The state's university and healthcare sectors offer more accessible pathways. Massachusetts also has an active H-1B dependent employer base, so reviewing an employer's LCA filings on the Department of Labor's public disclosure portal before applying can clarify their sponsorship track record.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored system administrator jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
