Which companies sponsor visas for engineering managers in Michigan?
Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Stellantis, and Aptiv are among the larger Michigan employers with documented H-1B visa sponsorship histories for engineering manager roles. Tier-1 automotive suppliers such as BorgWarner and Lear Corporation also sponsor regularly. Beyond automotive, companies in Ann Arbor's tech sector, including Duo Security (now part of Cisco) and StockX, have sponsored engineering leadership positions.
Which visa types are most common for engineering manager roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for engineering managers in Michigan, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, or a related field, satisfying the specialty occupation requirement. Candidates with extraordinary achievement may pursue the O-1A. Multinational managers transferring from a foreign parent or affiliate may qualify for the L-1A intracompany transferee visa instead.
How to find engineering manager visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate aggregates visa sponsorship jobs and lets you filter specifically by role and state, making it straightforward to browse engineering manager openings in Michigan. Because sponsorship willingness isn't always stated in job postings, Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified sponsorship histories, saving significant research time for candidates targeting Michigan's automotive and technology sectors.
Which cities in Michigan have the most engineering manager sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its surrounding suburbs, particularly Dearborn, Auburn Hills, and Warren, concentrate the highest volume of engineering manager roles due to the headquarters and major facilities of Ford, GM, and Stellantis. Ann Arbor is the second-strongest market, driven by the University of Michigan's research ecosystem and a growing software and technology employer base.
Are there state-specific considerations for engineering managers pursuing visa sponsorship in Michigan?
Michigan's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B engineering manager roles are benchmarked to Detroit-Warren-Dearborn and Ann Arbor metropolitan statistical areas, which tend to reflect the high compensation expectations of automotive and technology employers. Michigan's deep university pipeline, particularly from the University of Michigan and Michigan State University, means employers are experienced with international talent and established sponsorship processes.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored engineering manager jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
