Which companies sponsor visas for project managers in Michigan?
Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Stellantis, and Consumers Energy are among the Michigan employers with documented histories of sponsoring work visas for project managers. Large healthcare systems including Henry Ford Health and Beaumont Health also sponsor for project management roles. Automotive suppliers such as BorgWarner and Aptiv, both with significant Michigan operations, appear regularly in Department of Labor sponsorship records.
Which visa types are most common for project manager roles in Michigan?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for project managers in Michigan, given that the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field, satisfying the specialty occupation requirement. Candidates with multinational employer backgrounds may qualify for an L-1B or L-1A. Australians may pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is structurally well-suited to project management roles in Michigan's manufacturing and tech sectors.
Which cities in Michigan have the most project manager sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its surrounding metro, including Dearborn, Auburn Hills, and Warren, account for the largest concentration of sponsored project manager roles due to the automotive industry's density there. Ann Arbor attracts project managers in technology, research, and healthcare, partly driven by the University of Michigan's employer ecosystem. Grand Rapids has a growing healthcare and manufacturing base that generates consistent project management demand.
How to find project manager visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically to roles where employers are open to visa sponsorship, making it more efficient than searching general boards and manually vetting each posting. For project manager roles in Michigan, you can filter by state and role type to surface relevant openings across automotive, healthcare, and manufacturing employers. Migrate Mate also provides supporting information on visa pathways relevant to the roles listed.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for project managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Michigan's project manager market is heavily tied to the automotive industry, so candidates with manufacturing, supply chain, or product development project experience have a stronger profile with local employers. The University of Michigan and Michigan State University generate talent pipelines that some employers use for OPT-to-H-1B transitions. Prevailing wage requirements apply to all sponsored roles, and Michigan's Department of Labor and Economic Growth does not add state-level requirements beyond federal H-1B and PERM obligations.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project manager jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
