INTRODUCTION
The Center for Digital Humanities at Princeton (CDH) seeks a Digital Humanities Project Manager. The CDH Project Manager (DH PM) plays a key role in facilitating successful and sustainable computational humanities research at Princeton. With a deep understanding of collaborative scholarship in the humanities, the PM develops, designs, and maintains a wide range of resources for digital humanities projects of all types. They offer consultations, workshops, and documentation to the Princeton community to assist scholars at various stages of the digital humanities research lifecycle.
An integral member of the Research Software Engineering (RSE) team, the DH PM serves as technical project manager, supporting the design, planning, implementation, and conclusion stages of CDH faculty collaborations. They coordinate the software development priorities of the research projects and initiatives, and onboard and support faculty and student collaborators. In addition, the DH PM collaborates with the Assistant Director on portfolio management, assisting with the evaluation, prioritization, and coordination of CDH projects. They help review, revise, and run CDH programs related to project management education and training, notably CDH’s project management mentorship programs for graduate students and early-career scholars.

Responsibilities
Technical Project Manager for Humanities RSE projects:
- Manage CDH RSE projects over the full project lifecycle, from intake to sunsetting.
- Plan and facilitate RSE team meetings (i.e. iteration planning, retrospectives, quarter planning).
- Onboard and support faculty and student collaborators.
- Work with CDH Communications Manager to coordinate publicity and outreach for CDH RSE projects.
- Serve as point of contact for external inquiries about CDH RSE projects.
Support portfolio management of CDH projects and initiatives:
- Plan and facilitate regular CDH meetings, including portfolio meetings and group consults.
- Support Assistant Director with RSE portfolio management, including analyzing and reporting on trends, resource allocation, capacity, etc.
- Support Executive Director with reporting on the full CDH portfolio of projects and initiatives.
Educate Princeton community on digital humanities project management:
- Develop and run CDH collaborative research training for early-stage DH project teams.
- Serve as project management consultant and advisor to Princeton individuals and groups at all project stages.
- Increase visibility of CDH project management processes and programs through documentation, outreach, and communications to internal and external peers and partners.
Contribute to student engagement programs:
- Participate in center-level strategic discussions about CDH student engagement.
- Identify projects or tasks from the CDH portfolio well-suited for student learning opportunities.
- Manage coordination with other campus units to facilitate student opportunities (such as ODOC, AI Labs, Research Computing).
- Recruit collaborators to assist with student mentorship.
Support project management processes across CDH programs and projects:
- Support CDH leadership team in establishing, maintaining, and reviewing CDH administrative processes such as organizing and updating CDH internal documentation and communication channels.
- Provide internal training as needed on project management tools and processes.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree and three plus years of related experience.
- Proven success managing a range of digital humanities projects.
- Familiarity with data-driven and computational methods for research and current trends in software development tools, techniques, and programming languages used in humanities research.
- Demonstrated success working with teams.
- Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to make presentations to faculty, staff, leadership.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in a Humanities discipline.
- Experience working with a nationally or internationally known digital humanities center or project.
- Experience with Agile software development practices.
- Experience contributing to grant proposals.
