Which companies sponsor visas for service advisors in Michigan?
Michigan's largest automotive dealership groups are the most active sponsors, including Penske Automotive Group locations and regional dealer networks tied to Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis franchises concentrated in the Detroit metro area. Multi-location dealer groups with dedicated HR infrastructure are generally better positioned to navigate the H-1B visa petition process than independent single-location dealerships.
Which visa types are most common for service advisor roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common pathway, but it requires the employer to demonstrate that the service advisor role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in a specific field, which can be challenging for some dealership positions. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may find the TN visa a more straightforward option if their qualifications align with eligible occupational categories.
Which cities in Michigan have the most service advisor sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its surrounding suburbs, including Troy, Dearborn, and Warren, account for the highest concentration of service advisor openings given the density of automotive dealerships and OEM service centers in that region. Grand Rapids and Lansing also have active hiring markets, particularly for candidates with German or Japanese brand experience at import-focused dealerships.
How to find service advisor visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status, so you can browse service advisor roles in Michigan without sorting through positions that don't support international candidates. The platform surfaces dealership and automotive service openings across Detroit, Grand Rapids, and other Michigan markets where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor, saving significant time in your search.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for service advisors seeking visa sponsorship?
Michigan's automotive industry concentration means prevailing wage determinations for service advisor roles are often benchmarked against a highly skilled, experienced workforce, which can set the wage floor higher than in other states. Employers filing H-1B petitions here must meet those prevailing wage standards through the Labor Condition Application process, so candidates should expect sponsoring employers to offer compensation aligned with experienced Michigan automotive service professionals.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored service advisor jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
