Which companies sponsor visas for warehouse jobs in Michigan?
Amazon operates multiple fulfillment centers across Michigan, including facilities near Detroit and Grand Rapids, and has a documented history of H-1B and other visa sponsorships. Large automotive logistics operations tied to General Motors, Stellantis, and Ford also generate warehouse-adjacent sponsorship activity. Third-party logistics providers such as XPO Logistics and Penske Logistics maintain Michigan facilities and have sponsored visa holders in operations-related roles.
Which visa types are most common for warehouse roles in Michigan?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for warehouse roles that require a bachelor's degree in a specialty field, such as supply chain management, industrial engineering, or logistics operations. Roles involving hands-on labor without a degree requirement rarely qualify for H-1B classification. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. Some operations management and analyst positions at Michigan distribution centers have also been sponsored under L-1 visas for internal transfers.
Which cities in Michigan have the most warehouse sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its surrounding metro area, including Warren, Sterling Heights, and Romulus near Detroit Metropolitan Airport, account for the highest concentration of warehouse and distribution sponsorship activity in Michigan. Grand Rapids is a secondary hub, driven by food manufacturing and consumer goods logistics. Lansing and Flint also have notable warehouse employment tied to automotive supply chains, though sponsorship volume there is lower than in the Detroit metro.
How to find warehouse visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters warehouse visa sponsorship jobs by state, including Michigan. Rather than sorting through general job boards where sponsorship status is rarely confirmed, Migrate Mate surfaces roles from employers with active sponsorship records. Searching by the Michigan filter and selecting warehouse as the role category gives you a targeted list of opportunities relevant to your visa situation without the guesswork.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for warehouse visa sponsorship?
Michigan's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program are set by the Department of Labor and reflect local Detroit and Grand Rapids wage data, which can differ meaningfully from national averages. Automotive-linked warehouse roles often follow seasonal production cycles, so sponsorship timing may align with model-year hiring surges. Michigan State University and University of Michigan produce supply chain graduates who enter this pipeline, so sponsored roles in more analytical warehouse functions tend to attract competitive applicant pools.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored warehouse jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
