Which companies in Minnesota sponsor visas for software QA engineers?
Large Twin Cities employers including UnitedHealth Group, Target, Best Buy, and U.S. Bancorp have established records of H-1B sponsorship for software QA engineers. Medical device companies such as Medtronic and Boston Scientific also sponsor QA roles, particularly for engineers with experience in regulated software testing environments. Sponsorship patterns vary by team, role level, and hiring cycle.
Which visa types are most common for software QA engineers in Minnesota?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software QA engineers in Minnesota, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Some candidates also enter through the OPT and STEM OPT extensions while completing the H-1B cap process. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN status under the Software Engineer category.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most software QA engineer visa sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and Saint Paul account for the large majority of software QA sponsorship opportunities in Minnesota, driven by the concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and large technology operations in the metro area. Minnetonka, Eden Prairie, and Bloomington also host significant employer campuses, particularly in healthcare technology and financial services. Opportunities outside the Twin Cities metro are considerably more limited.
How to find software qa engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate filters software QA engineer jobs in Minnesota specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can avoid sifting through postings where sponsorship is not offered. The platform aggregates roles from employers with documented sponsorship histories in the state, including companies in the healthcare tech and retail technology sectors. Searching by role and state on Migrate Mate saves significant time compared to reviewing unfiltered job boards.
Are there any Minnesota-specific considerations for software QA engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Minnesota's concentration of healthcare technology and medical device companies means QA engineers with experience in FDA-regulated software testing or quality management systems may find stronger sponsorship interest than generalist candidates. The University of Minnesota and other state institutions produce a steady pipeline of STEM graduates, so competition for entry-level roles can be notable. Employers in regulated industries often have established immigration support processes given their ongoing need for specialized technical talent.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software qa engineer jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
