Which companies sponsor visas for software QA engineers in Texas?
Several large employers with significant Texas operations sponsor visas for software QA engineers, including Dell Technologies in Round Rock, IBM in Austin and Dallas, Oracle in Austin, and Texas Instruments in Dallas. The state's expanding fintech sector, centered in Dallas, and its semiconductor and defense technology industries also include employers that sponsor QA roles. Enterprise software and cloud companies with Texas offices frequently file H-1B visa petitions for QA positions.
Which visa types are most common for software QA engineer roles in Texas?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for software QA engineers in Texas. USCIS classifies software quality assurance engineering as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates from Canada or Mexico may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA/USMCA engineer category. Australians with qualifying degrees may be eligible for the E-3 visa.
Which cities in Texas have the most software QA engineer sponsorship jobs?
Austin leads Texas for software QA engineer sponsorship activity, given its dense concentration of technology companies and corporate engineering campuses. Dallas and its suburbs, particularly Plano and Irving, are strong markets driven by financial services, telecommunications, and enterprise software employers. Houston contributes sponsorship opportunities through energy technology and healthcare IT sectors. San Antonio has a smaller but growing footprint in cybersecurity and government contracting.
How to find software qa engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates looking for visa sponsorship roles, including software QA engineer positions in Texas. You can filter by state and job category to surface employers who have a documented history of sponsoring work visas. This is more reliable than searching general job boards, where sponsorship availability is rarely disclosed upfront and QA roles in Texas are mixed with non-sponsoring postings.
Are there any Texas-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for software QA engineers?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects how employers structure compensation packages and prevailing wage calculations relative to other tech hubs. The state's large public university system, including UT Austin and Texas A&M, produces a significant pipeline of international students on OPT who transition into sponsored roles at Texas employers. QA engineers in semiconductor and defense-adjacent industries may encounter additional hiring constraints tied to federal contractor requirements or export control regulations.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software qa engineer jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
