Which companies sponsor visas for software qa engineers in Oregon?
Intel, Nike, Daimler Truck North America, and a range of Portland-based SaaS companies have documented histories of sponsoring H-1B visas for software QA engineers in Oregon. Semiconductor and hardware firms in the Hillsboro corridor tend to have structured sponsorship programs, while smaller startups sponsor less consistently. Checking OFLC Labor Condition Application disclosure data gives a reliable picture of which Oregon employers have filed for QA roles.
Which visa types are most common for software qa engineer roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software QA engineers in Oregon, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. L-1B visas appear for intracompany transfers at multinationals like Intel. Australians may qualify for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and processes faster than the H-1B.
Which cities in Oregon have the most software qa engineer sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the majority of software QA engineer sponsorship jobs in Oregon, driven by its concentration of tech employers and SaaS companies. Hillsboro is a significant secondary hub due to Intel's large campus, which employs thousands of engineers and regularly sponsors QA roles. Beaverton and Lake Oswego also appear in sponsorship filings, largely tied to Nike and regional software firms.
How to find software qa engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find software QA engineer roles in Oregon without sifting through positions that won't sponsor. You can search by role and state to surface employers in Portland, Hillsboro, and Beaverton who have active openings and a documented willingness to sponsor. Focusing on mid-to-large tech and semiconductor employers in Oregon improves the odds of finding genuine sponsorship.
What should software qa engineers know about visa sponsorship in Oregon's job market?
Oregon's software QA market leans heavily on semiconductor and hardware testing expertise, particularly around the Hillsboro Intel campus, which means employers often expect familiarity with embedded systems or hardware validation alongside traditional QA skills. Prevailing wage requirements under H-1B rules mean employers must pay the DOL-determined wage for the Portland or Hillsboro metro area, which varies by experience level. Oregon State University and Portland State University also supply local QA talent, so international candidates benefit from roles requiring specialized domain knowledge.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software qa engineer jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
