Which companies sponsor visas for software qa engineers in Kentucky?
Louisville-based employers are the most active sponsors for software QA engineers in Kentucky. Humana, one of the largest health insurers in the country, maintains a significant technology workforce and has a history of H-1B visa sponsorship for technical roles. Other notable sponsors include Kindred Healthcare, Tempur Sealy International, and regional financial institutions with growing software engineering teams. Smaller healthcare IT firms and defense contractors near Lexington also file sponsorships periodically.
Which visa types are most common for software qa engineer roles in Kentucky?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software QA engineers in Kentucky, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. L-1B visas apply when an engineer transfers from an overseas office of the same company. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals under USMCA for qualifying computer-related occupations, including software QA roles.
Which cities in Kentucky have the most software qa engineer sponsorship jobs?
Louisville accounts for the majority of software QA engineer sponsorship activity in Kentucky, driven by its concentration of healthcare, logistics, and financial services companies with established tech teams. Lexington is the second most active city, with employers in manufacturing technology, equine industry software, and higher education IT. Bowling Green and Covington see occasional openings, particularly from employers with ties to Cincinnati's broader tech market just across the state line.
How to find software qa engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Kentucky?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for software QA engineer roles in Kentucky without manually screening hundreds of postings. You can filter by state to surface active Kentucky openings at companies that have filed sponsorships for similar technical roles in the past. This is particularly useful in a mid-sized market like Kentucky, where sponsoring employers are fewer and harder to identify through general job searches.
Are there any Kentucky-specific considerations for software qa engineer visa sponsorship?
Kentucky does not have a state income tax structure or local tech incentive program that directly affects visa sponsorship decisions, but the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville produce a steady pipeline of computer science graduates, which influences how employers approach international technical hiring. The prevailing wage requirement under H-1B rules applies based on the Louisville or Lexington metropolitan area, which typically sets wages below what coastal tech markets require, making Kentucky roles accessible to a wider range of applicants.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software qa engineer jobs in Kentucky?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
