Which companies sponsor visas for software qa engineers in North Carolina?
Cisco Systems, IBM, Red Hat, Fidelity Investments, and Lenovo are among the employers in North Carolina with consistent H-1B sponsorship histories for software QA and test engineering roles. SAS Institute in Cary and Epic Games in Cary also appear in DOL disclosure data. Biotech and healthtech firms in the Research Triangle Park area, including Syneos Health and IQVIA, have also sponsored QA engineering positions.
Which visa types are most common for software qa engineer roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software QA engineers in North Carolina, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Australian citizens may use the E-3 visa for the same roles. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT authorization can work immediately while an employer initiates H-1B sponsorship.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most software qa engineer sponsorship jobs?
Raleigh and Durham account for the largest share of software QA engineer sponsorship activity in North Carolina, driven by the Research Triangle Park cluster of technology and pharmaceutical companies. Cary is also a significant hub, home to SAS Institute and Epic Games. Charlotte has a growing technology sector with financial services firms, including Bank of America and Wells Fargo, that sponsor QA engineering roles.
How to find software qa engineer visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters job listings by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search for software QA engineer roles in North Carolina without sorting through positions that won't support your visa. The platform surfaces employers with documented sponsorship histories in the state, which is particularly useful for targeting the Research Triangle and Charlotte markets where QA hiring is most active.
Are there any state-specific considerations for software qa engineers seeking sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina's Research Triangle universities, including NC State, Duke, and UNC Chapel Hill, produce a steady pipeline of software engineering graduates, which means QA roles in the Triangle often attract competitive applicant pools. Employers filing H-1B petitions must meet DOL prevailing wage requirements for the specific job location, so the wage level assigned to a Raleigh-based QA role will differ from one based in Charlotte. STEM OPT extensions give F-1 graduates up to three years of work authorization, providing a meaningful runway while pursuing H-1B sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software qa engineer jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
