The Role:
Responsibilities:
- Define, document, and continuously improve the QA strategy for a multi-org Salesforce environment
- Build and formalize QA processes, templates, and standards where they do not yet exist, and improve existing ones
- Author test plans and test cases aligned to business requirements and technical specifications
- Establish quality gates across the development pipeline, ensuring readiness at each environment transition
- Lead functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing across Salesforce orgs
- Validate Salesforce configurations (Flows, validation rules, permission sets, sharing rules) as well as custom development (Apex, LWC)
- Test REST API integrations using tools such as Postman, including payload validation and error handling scenarios
- Perform basic Salesforce administrative tasks as needed to support test environment setup and defect investigation (data creation, permission validation, debug logs)
- Maintain and extend a Salesforce UI test automation framework built on UTAM and WebdriverIO (JavaScript)
- Write and update automated test scripts; maintain test data structures and reporting configuration (Allure Reports)
- Manage automation source code using Git — branching, pull requests, and version control best practices
- Identify candidates for automation and prioritize based on risk and regression frequency
- Triage, document, and track defects through resolution; produce clear root cause analyses for production incidents
- Collaborate with developers to reproduce issues, validate fixes, and confirm closure
- Maintain defect metrics and communicate quality trends to the client's Engineering Manager
- Assign and manage the day-to-day work of a team of QA testers
- Review test results, provide technical guidance, and support skills development within the team
- Ensure consistent application of QA standards across all team members
- Serve as Synechron's QA subject matter expert in daily interactions with the client's Salesforce Engineering Manager
- Communicate test coverage, quality risks, and release readiness clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Contribute to QA-related discussions in project ceremonies (iteration planning, reviews, retrospectives)
Required Skills
- Deep understanding of the Salesforce platform: data model, security model, Flows, profiles and permission sets, sandbox environments, integrations
- SOQL proficiency — ability to write and analyze queries for data validation, defect investigation, and test setup verification
- Hands-on experience with UI test automation — UTAM/WebdriverIO or a comparable Salesforce-compatible framework strongly preferred; JavaScript and Git proficiency required
- Experience testing REST API integrations (Postman or equivalent)
- Salesforce tooling proficiency (Workbench, Salesforce Inspector Reloaded, Developer Console, Debug Logs)
- Ability to read and critically evaluate Apex test classes — assess assertion quality, coverage validity, and structural soundness
- Experience authoring test plans, test cases, and QA process documentation in a professional consulting or enterprise context
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery and standard tooling (Jira, Confluence)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable in a client-facing technical consultant role
- Salesforce Administrator certification
- Experience working in regulated environments (financial services, healthcare, or similar) is a strong asset
Nice to Have
- Exposure to Salesforce CI/CD pipelines (sf CLI, Bitbucket or equivalent)
- Basic ability to write simple Apex test classes for straightforward scenarios

Which companies sponsor visas for software QA engineers in New Jersey?
New Jersey-based employers with strong H-1B sponsorship histories for software QA engineers include Cognizant, Tata Consultancy Services, Johnson & Johnson, Verizon, and Conduent. Large IT consulting firms headquartered in the state file a significant share of QA-related petitions annually. Pharmaceutical and financial services companies also sponsor regularly, particularly for QA automation and test engineering roles tied to regulated software environments.
Which visa types are most common for software QA engineer roles in New Jersey?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software QA engineers in New Jersey, as the role generally qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. The L-1B is also used when candidates transfer from an overseas office of a multinational employer. TN status applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering classifications.
How to find software qa engineer visa sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate filters software QA engineer jobs in New Jersey specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you are not sifting through roles that will not support work authorization. The platform aggregates positions from employers with documented sponsorship histories, covering QA automation, manual testing, and SDET roles across New Jersey's pharma, finance, and tech sectors. Filtering by state lets you focus your applications on employers already set up to sponsor.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most software QA engineer sponsorship jobs?
Jersey City sees strong QA demand driven by financial services firms operating across the Hudson from Manhattan. Parsippany and Bridgewater are active hubs due to concentrations of pharmaceutical and IT consulting offices. Princeton attracts QA roles tied to research-adjacent software in life sciences. Edison and Iselin also have significant hiring activity, largely through IT staffing and services companies with established sponsorship programs.
Are there any New Jersey-specific considerations for software QA engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
New Jersey's high concentration of pharmaceutical and regulated-industry employers means many QA roles involve compliance-sensitive software, which can raise the complexity of job duties documentation in an H-1B petition. The state also has a strong pipeline of international STEM graduates from Rutgers, NJIT, and Stevens Institute of Technology, so competition for sponsored QA roles is real. Employers in regulated industries often require demonstrated experience with validation frameworks like GAMP or 21 CFR Part 11.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software qa engineer jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
