Responsibilities
What you’ll do
- Perform basic construction tests such as air, slump, moisture, compaction, aggregate gradation, and density; report results to supervisor.
- Perform measurements, computations, or other work in preparing final plans, change orders, and contractor payment estimates.
- Assist in inspection of bituminous and portland cement concrete plants and/or grading, base, bituminous or concrete paving.
- Maintain records and prepare reports pertaining to inspections; keep supervisor informed of activities or unusual conditions; ensure projects meet department standards.
- Enter and record information regarding construction projects into computer programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
All you need for success
- High School Diploma or GED/HiSET.
- OSHA 10-Hour Certification required within 90 days.
- Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
- Job requires moderate physical activity.
- Job requires exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
- Basic math skills, consistent with high school level algebra, will be necessary to perform many of this title’s duties.
- Job may require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
