Position Summary:
Please note: The salary range listed in this job description is a base salary. Applicants eligible for years-of-service adjustments or shift differentials may exceed salary range listed above. This position will be located in the Division of Administrative Support’s Human Resources Program at the Lewis & Clark State Office Building, 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
Responsibilities:
- Process requests for Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Parental Leave, Long Term Disability (LTD), Temporary Modified Duty (TMD), and Shareleave.
- Manage requests for accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act (ADAAA).
- Provides training for FMLA, Parental Leave, LTD, TMD and ADAAA.
- Responsible for conducting impartial investigations into civil rights and workplace concerns ensuring compliance with department policies and applicable laws.
- Prepare investigative reports.
- Address highly sensitive and complex planning and decision-making matters.
- Provide guidance to management on employee performance and attendance issues.
- Regular statewide travel and occasional overnight travel required.
- Protest applicable unemployment claims.
- Assists with the creation of metrics and analytics, collecting and analyzing data related to the Human Resources Program.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:
- Strict Confidentiality: Given the sensitive and personal information with which this position works, the ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality and professionalism is essential to upholding the integrity required to succeed in this role.
- Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, consider the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
- Self-Management: Sets well-defined and realistic personal goals; displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner; works with minimal supervision; is motivated to achieve; demonstrates responsible behavior.
- Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
- HR professionals need a strong understanding of employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance, protect employees and employers, and maintain a fair and legal workplace.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
- Willingness to learn statistical software and data visualization software (Qualtrics, Tableau).
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
