INTRODUCTION
American farmers have made tremendous technology advancements through hardware improvements and investments in precision agriculture. However, when it comes to the back-office, most farms are decades behind, relying on spreadsheets, filing cabinets, and decades-old on-prem software to recruit, manage, and pay their workforce. Seso is addressing this problem by modernizing the back-office for the farm.
Our mission is to build the premier platform for agribusiness to hire and manage their workforce and improve the lives of agricultural workers. We are addressing American farmers’ biggest pain point - access to qualified labor - through a software-enabled labor solution that automates the H-2A visa. Our comprehensive HR platform streamlines and automates the hiring process for farms and seamlessly integrates their efforts across recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and insurance while providing workers access to financial services for the first time.
Seso has raised over $60M from Tier I investors including Index, Founders Fund, and Mary Meeker at Bond, and has been recognized with awards including Forbes Rising Stars and Andreessen Horowitz's American Dynamism 50.
Please note, this is NOT a Seso Labor job opportunity, this role is with our client, O’Connor Crops & Cattle in Ekalaka, Montana.

Which companies sponsor visas for mechanical engineers in Montana?
Energy and natural resource companies represent the strongest sponsorship activity for mechanical engineers in Montana. Washington Companies, which operates mining and rail businesses across the state, has historically hired engineers for technical roles. Oil and gas operators in the Williston Basin region and industrial manufacturers in Billings and Great Falls also sponsor H-1B and other work visas, particularly for roles requiring specialized mechanical systems expertise.
Which visa types are most common for mechanical engineers in Montana?
The H-1B is the most common visa for mechanical engineers in Montana, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field. Candidates from Canada or Mexico may be eligible for the TN visa, which covers engineers and does not require an employer petition filed months in advance. Australian citizens may also qualify under the E-3 visa category.
Which cities in Montana have the most mechanical engineer sponsorship jobs?
Billings is Montana's largest city and its commercial and energy hub, making it the most active market for mechanical engineer sponsorship jobs, particularly in oil refining and industrial operations. Missoula and Great Falls also have engineering employers, including manufacturing firms and public infrastructure projects. Helena, as the state capital, sees some demand through government contractors. The Williston Basin's influence extends into eastern Montana for energy-sector roles.
How to find mechanical engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Montana?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, making it a practical starting point for mechanical engineer roles in Montana. You can filter by state and job category to surface employers with a demonstrated history of sponsoring work visas. Because Montana's engineering market is concentrated in energy and natural resources, focusing your search on those sectors within Migrate Mate will return the most relevant results.
Are there state-specific considerations for mechanical engineers seeking sponsorship in Montana?
Montana's engineering demand is heavily tied to extractive industries, infrastructure, and agriculture-related manufacturing, so candidates with experience in those areas are better positioned than those with purely consumer or tech backgrounds. Montana State University in Bozeman produces mechanical engineering graduates, which means employers may have some familiarity with international student pipelines and OPT transitions. Prevailing wage determinations for mechanical engineers in Montana reflect regional cost of living, which is generally lower than coastal markets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored mechanical engineer jobs in Montana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
