Which companies sponsor visas for drivers in Nebraska?
Nebraska-based trucking and logistics companies with histories of sponsoring foreign national workers include Werner Enterprises, Crete Carrier Corporation, and Werner's subsidiary Drivers Management. Larger national carriers operating regional terminals in Omaha and Lincoln also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data. Sponsorship activity tends to concentrate among larger fleets with dedicated HR and legal resources to manage the petition process.
Which visa types are most common for driver roles in Nebraska?
Most driver sponsorship in Nebraska occurs through the H-2B temporary nonimmigrant visa, which covers non-agricultural seasonal or peak-load workers, and occasionally through H-1B petitions for specialized logistics or fleet operations roles requiring a bachelor's degree. CDL-based driving positions generally do not meet H-1B specialty occupation standards, so H-2B is the more frequent pathway for over-the-road and regional drivers.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most driver sponsorship jobs?
Omaha is the clear center of gravity, hosting headquarters for Werner Enterprises and several regional distribution hubs connected to I-80 and I-29. Lincoln follows as a secondary market with carrier terminals and last-mile delivery operations. Grand Island and Kearney see freight activity tied to agricultural processing and interstate corridor traffic, making them secondary markets worth monitoring for driver openings.
How to find driver visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers have indicated visa sponsorship availability, including driver positions in Nebraska. Rather than sorting through general job boards, you can search directly by role and state to surface carriers and logistics companies actively hiring international candidates. Migrate Mate also provides context on visa categories relevant to driving roles, helping you assess whether a listing is a realistic fit before applying.
Are there any Nebraska-specific considerations for drivers seeking visa sponsorship?
Nebraska requires a Commercial Driver's License issued by the state for most freight and over-the-road positions, and international candidates must ensure their credentials meet Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles standards. The state's agricultural economy creates seasonal freight surges around harvest periods, which can influence H-2B petition timing. Prevailing wage requirements under Department of Labor rules apply to sponsored positions, so employers must meet federally determined pay levels for the specific occupational category and geographic area.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored driver jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
