Which companies sponsor visas for civil project engineers in New Hampshire?
Engineering and environmental consulting firms are the most active sponsors for civil project engineers in New Hampshire. Companies like Tighe & Bond, Stantec, and Kleinfelder have filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for civil engineering roles in the region. State infrastructure contractors working on NHDOT highway and bridge programs also hire internationally, though sponsorship practices vary by firm and project backlog.
Which visa types are most common for civil project engineer roles in New Hampshire?
The H-1B is the most common visa for civil project engineers in New Hampshire, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering. Engineers from Canada and Mexico may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA/USMCA engineer category, which offers a faster, lottery-free path. Candidates with extraordinary achievements may explore the O-1A.
How to find civil project engineer visa sponsorship jobs in New Hampshire?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship willingness, making it easier to identify civil project engineer roles in New Hampshire without sorting through employers unlikely to sponsor. You can search by role and state to surface active openings at consulting firms, municipal contractors, and infrastructure companies operating across Manchester, Concord, and Nashua. Migrate Mate also provides employer sponsorship history context to help you prioritize applications.
Which cities in New Hampshire have the most civil project engineer sponsorship jobs?
Manchester is New Hampshire's largest city and the primary hub for civil engineering employment, with concentrations in transportation, stormwater, and site development projects. Concord sees steady demand tied to state government infrastructure programs and DOT contractor activity. Nashua, bordering Massachusetts, attracts firms serving both New Hampshire and the greater Boston metro area, making it a strong market for internationally sponsored civil engineers.
Are there state-specific considerations for civil project engineers seeking sponsorship in New Hampshire?
New Hampshire does not require a state-specific professional engineering license for initial employment, but practicing as a licensed PE typically requires passing the NCEES exams and meeting experience thresholds. Employers sponsoring H-1B applicants must file a Labor Condition Application certifying they will pay the applicable prevailing wage for the Manchester or Concord wage area. UNH's civil engineering program also creates a local graduate pipeline that some NH firms draw from when considering international hires.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored civil project engineer jobs in New Hampshire?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
