Which companies sponsor visas for electrical engineers in New Hampshire?
BAE Systems in Nashua is one of the most active sponsors for electrical engineers in New Hampshire, particularly for defense electronics and systems engineering roles. Other notable employers include Analog Devices, Segway, and Liberty Utilities. Larger defense and semiconductor contractors in the Manchester-Nashua corridor have established H-1B sponsorship processes, though sponsorship availability varies by role, team, and hiring cycle.
Which visa types are most common for electrical engineer roles in New Hampshire?
The H-1B is the most common visa for electrical engineers in New Hampshire, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Electrical engineers from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa instead. Canadians and Mexicans may be eligible under the TN visa category, which lists engineers explicitly. O-1 visas are an option for engineers with demonstrated exceptional ability or notable publications and patents.
Which cities in New Hampshire have the most electrical engineer sponsorship jobs?
Nashua and Manchester together account for the majority of electrical engineering employment and visa sponsorship activity in New Hampshire. Nashua is particularly strong due to its concentration of defense contractors and hardware companies. Concord, as the state capital, has some utility and government-adjacent engineering roles. The Boston metro's proximity means some employers based just across the Massachusetts border also hire from the southern New Hampshire talent pool.
How to find electrical engineer visa sponsorship jobs in New Hampshire?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse electrical engineer roles in New Hampshire without sorting through positions that won't consider international candidates. Because defense contractors like BAE Systems and hardware firms in the Nashua area are repeat sponsors, searching within Migrate Mate by location and role gives a practical starting point for identifying which employers are actively hiring and sponsoring in this state.
Are there state-specific considerations for electrical engineers pursuing sponsorship in New Hampshire?
New Hampshire has a notable concentration of defense-related employers, and some positions at companies like BAE Systems require security clearances that can be difficult or impossible for non-U.S. citizens to obtain, which narrows the sponsorship pool for those roles. However, commercial hardware, semiconductor, and utility-sector positions generally do not carry clearance requirements. Engineers with degrees from UNH or Dartmouth sometimes have an advantage with local employers familiar with those programs.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored electrical engineer jobs in New Hampshire?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
