Which companies sponsor visas for cloud engineers in New Jersey?
Large enterprises with significant New Jersey footprints are among the most active sponsors for cloud engineer roles. Cognizant, Infosys, and Tata Consultancy Services file high volumes of H-1B visa petitions for technical roles in the state. Beyond IT services firms, companies like Johnson & Johnson, Prudential Financial, and Verizon also sponsor cloud engineers, particularly for roles supporting infrastructure modernization and multi-cloud platform work.
Which visa types are most common for cloud engineer roles in New Jersey?
The H-1B is the predominant visa category for cloud engineers in New Jersey, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Candidates from India and China often rely on employer-sponsored EB-2 or EB-3 green card petitions for longer-term pathways. Australians may also pursue the E-3 visa with a qualifying New Jersey employer.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most cloud engineer sponsorship jobs?
Jersey City and Newark concentrate the largest share of cloud engineer sponsorship activity, driven by their proximity to New York City's financial sector and the presence of major tech and consulting employers. Parsippany and Basking Ridge attract roles tied to Verizon and other telecom infrastructure companies. Princeton and the Route 1 corridor also generate demand through pharma and biotech firms that have expanded cloud and data engineering teams in recent years.
How to find cloud engineer visa sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and lets you filter cloud engineer roles by state, so you can browse New Jersey positions from employers with documented sponsorship histories. Rather than sifting through general job boards where sponsorship status is rarely disclosed upfront, Migrate Mate surfaces roles where H-1B and other work visa sponsorship is explicitly part of the hiring process for cloud engineering positions.
Are there any New Jersey-specific factors cloud engineers should know about for visa sponsorship?
New Jersey's concentration of IT services and consulting firms means many cloud engineer sponsorship cases are filed by third-party employers placing workers at client sites, which can affect how your Labor Condition Application is structured and which prevailing wage applies. The state also has a strong university pipeline through Rutgers and NJIT, so OPT and STEM OPT extensions are common bridge arrangements before H-1B sponsorship begins. Candidates should confirm that their employer of record, not just the client, is the H-1B petitioner.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud engineer jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
