Which companies in Oregon sponsor visas for cloud engineers?
Intel is one of Oregon's most active H-1B visa sponsors overall, with significant cloud and infrastructure engineering presence in Hillsboro. Amazon Web Services, Salesforce, and Nike all have Portland-area engineering offices that regularly sponsor cloud engineers. Smaller cloud-native companies in the Portland metro, including Puppet (now part of Perforce) and various SaaS startups, also have sponsorship track records worth researching through DOL disclosure data.
Which visa types are most common for cloud engineer roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa for cloud engineers in Oregon, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information systems, or a related field. L-1B visas appear among multinational employers like Intel transferring specialized cloud talent. O-1A petitions are an option for engineers with documented exceptional contributions, though the standard is high.
How to find cloud engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship willingness, so you can search cloud engineer roles in Oregon without sifting through employers who won't sponsor. Because sponsorship intent isn't always listed in standard job postings, Migrate Mate's curated approach saves significant time. Filtering by Oregon city, cloud specialization (AWS, Azure, GCP), and seniority level helps narrow results to realistic opportunities for your profile.
Which cities in Oregon have the most cloud engineer sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the large majority of cloud engineer sponsorship activity in Oregon, driven by its concentration of tech employers and corporate offices. Hillsboro, part of the Portland metro, adds substantial volume through Intel's campus and the broader Silicon Forest cluster. Beaverton and Lake Oswego contribute smaller but consistent hiring from Nike's tech division and regional financial services firms with cloud infrastructure teams.
Are there any Oregon-specific factors cloud engineers should know about for visa sponsorship?
Oregon's Silicon Forest identity, anchored by Intel's Hillsboro operations, means semiconductor and hardware-adjacent cloud roles are more common here than in most other states. Oregon State University and the University of Oregon supply a pipeline of engineering graduates, and employers familiar with OPT-to-H-1B transitions are relatively common in the region. Oregon has no state income tax, which affects compensation structuring but does not directly impact prevailing wage determinations under the H-1B's DOL requirements.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud engineer jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
