Which companies sponsor visas for tax associates in New Jersey?
The Big Four accounting firms, Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, have offices across New Jersey and are among the most consistent H-1B visa sponsors for tax associate roles. Regional firms like Grant Thornton and BDO also maintain a New Jersey presence. Large corporations headquartered in the state, including Johnson & Johnson and Prudential Financial, sponsor tax professionals for in-house roles.
Which visa types are most common for tax associate roles in New Jersey?
The H-1B is the most common visa for tax associates in New Jersey. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given the degree requirements in accounting, finance, or taxation. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT through accounting or business programs can work while an employer files an H-1B petition. The L-1B is relevant for intracompany transfers within multinational accounting firms.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most tax associate sponsorship jobs?
Newark and Jersey City see the highest concentration of tax associate sponsorship activity, driven by financial services firms and accounting practices serving the greater New York metro area. Parsippany is a notable hub given the corporate headquarters clustered there. Princeton and Iselin also have active markets tied to pharmaceutical, technology, and professional services employers with tax and finance functions.
How to find tax associate visa sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for tax associate roles in New Jersey without sorting through positions that do not sponsor. You can browse active openings from accounting firms and corporations that have confirmed sponsorship histories. This saves significant time compared to applying broadly and discovering sponsorship limitations later in the process.
Are there state-specific factors that affect tax associate hiring and sponsorship in New Jersey?
New Jersey's tax code is one of the more complex at the state level, covering corporate business tax, gross income tax, and sales tax, which creates sustained demand for tax professionals with specialized knowledge. The state's large pharmaceutical and financial services sectors generate consistent in-house tax associate openings. Employers filing H-1B petitions for New Jersey roles must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements specific to the Newark-Jersey City metropolitan area, which are set at regional market rates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax associate jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
