Which finance companies in New York sponsor the most visas?
Major investment banks like Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase, and Citi lead visa sponsorship in New York. Asset managers including BlackRock and Vanguard also sponsor frequently, along with fintech companies like Mastercard and American Express. These firms consistently file H-1B petitions for quantitative analysts, software engineers, and investment banking roles across Manhattan and Brooklyn offices.
How to find finance visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Use Migrate Mate to search finance roles specifically filtered for New York visa sponsorship opportunities. Focus on positions in Manhattan's Financial District, Midtown offices, and emerging Brooklyn fintech hubs. Target quantitative finance, risk management, and financial technology roles, which have higher sponsorship rates than traditional banking positions at New York's major financial institutions.
What visa types are most common for finance jobs in New York?
H-1B visas dominate for finance professionals, especially quantitative analysts, risk managers, and financial engineers requiring specialized skills. L-1 visas are common for international bank transfers to New York offices. O-1 visas apply to senior traders and portfolio managers with exceptional track records. TN visas work for Canadian and Mexican finance professionals in qualifying analytical roles.
Which New York cities have the most finance visa sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan leads with Wall Street investment banks and Midtown asset managers offering the highest concentration of sponsorship opportunities. Brooklyn's DUMBO and Downtown areas host growing fintech companies. Long Island City attracts back-office operations for major banks. White Plains and Stamford suburbs house regional headquarters that also sponsor finance professionals regularly.
Are prevailing wages higher for finance roles in New York?
Yes, New York finance roles command significantly higher prevailing wages than most other states, reflecting the city's cost of living and competitive market. Investment banking and quantitative roles in Manhattan typically have the highest wage requirements. This benefits visa applicants by demonstrating employer commitment but requires companies to meet strict Department of Labor wage standards for sponsorship approval.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored finance jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
