Which companies sponsor visas for general managers in New York?
Hospitality groups, multinational retailers, and food service chains are among the most active sponsors of general managers in New York. Companies like Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, and large restaurant management groups have established immigration programs and regularly file H-1B visa petitions for qualified international candidates. Multinational corporations headquartered or with major operations in New York City, including financial services firms and consumer goods companies, also sponsor general manager roles.
Which visa types are most common for general manager roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for general manager positions in New York, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business administration, hospitality management, or a related discipline. The L-1A intracompany transferee visa is also frequently used when a candidate is moving from a foreign affiliate to a New York location in a managerial capacity. The O-1 visa is occasionally applicable for exceptionally accomplished candidates.
Which cities in New York have the most general manager sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the vast majority of general manager visa sponsorship opportunities in the state, driven by its concentration of hotels, restaurants, retail flagships, and corporate headquarters across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. Buffalo and Rochester also see activity in hospitality and manufacturing management. Albany has sponsorship openings tied to healthcare systems and government-adjacent organizations with multistate operations.
How to find general manager visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters general manager roles in New York by visa sponsorship availability, saving you the effort of manually vetting each listing. Searching by role and state on Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have a documented history of sponsoring work visas, which is especially useful for general manager positions where sponsorship eligibility depends heavily on how the role is structured and documented.
Are there state-specific considerations for general manager visa sponsorship in New York?
New York's prevailing wage requirements under Department of Labor rules apply to H-1B petitions, and New York City's high cost of living typically means prevailing wages for general manager roles are among the highest in the country. Employers in New York City are also subject to local labor laws that can affect how positions are documented for visa purposes. Candidates targeting the hospitality sector should note that New York's dense hotel and restaurant market creates genuine demand for experienced international managers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored general manager jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
