Which companies sponsor visas for producers in New York?
Major media and entertainment companies with a significant New York presence, including NBCUniversal, Warner Bros. Discovery, ViacomCBS, and large advertising holding groups like WPP and Publicis, have established track records of sponsoring work visas for producers. Production companies and post-production studios in Manhattan and Brooklyn also appear regularly in Department of Labor disclosure data for H-1B visa filings in production-related roles.
Which visa types are most common for producer roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most commonly used visa for producers in New York when the role requires a specific bachelor's degree in a related field, such as film production, communications, or media studies. The O-1B is another option for producers with an extraordinary record of achievement, including major credits, awards, or industry recognition. Some roles with international production companies may qualify under the L-1 visa intracompany transferee category.
Which cities in New York have the most producer sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the overwhelming majority of producer visa sponsorship jobs in the state. Manhattan is the center of gravity, housing the headquarters of major broadcast networks, advertising agencies, and streaming operations. Brooklyn has grown as a secondary hub, particularly for independent film and digital content production. Outside the city, producer roles with sponsorship are far less common, though some upstate production facilities exist.
How to find producer visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search producer roles in New York without sorting through postings from employers who don't sponsor. Given how competitive the New York production market is, filtering for confirmed sponsoring employers from the start saves significant time. Migrate Mate also surfaces roles across film, advertising, and digital media production, covering the full range of producer titles active in the New York market.
Are there state-specific considerations for producers seeking sponsorship in New York?
New York's strong union presence, particularly through SAG-AFTRA, the Directors Guild, and the Producers Guild, shapes how production roles are structured and classified, which can affect how employers define a sponsorable specialty occupation for visa purposes. New York also has a state film tax credit program that drives significant production volume, expanding the number of active employers. Prevailing wage requirements for sponsored workers are set at the New York metropolitan area rate, which reflects the high cost of the market.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored producer jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
