Which companies sponsor visas for producers in Ohio?
Broadcast and media companies are the most active sponsors for producer roles in Ohio. iHeartMedia and E.W. Scripps Company, both with significant Ohio operations, have sponsored work visas for production staff. Advertising agencies in Columbus and Cleveland also sponsor producers for digital and commercial content roles. Ohio's growing film production infrastructure has expanded sponsorship activity beyond traditional broadcast into streaming and corporate media.
Which visa types are most common for producer roles in Ohio?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for producers in Ohio, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as film production, communications, or media studies. The O-1B is an alternative for producers with extraordinary ability demonstrated through significant credits, awards, or industry recognition. Producers from Australia may also qualify for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is available year-round.
Which cities in Ohio have the most producer sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads Ohio for producer sponsorship activity, driven by its concentration of advertising agencies, corporate media departments, and digital content studios. Cleveland has a notable broadcast and news production presence, anchored by major network affiliates and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's media operations. Cincinnati's advertising and marketing sector, home to agencies serving large consumer brands, also generates sponsorship opportunities for experienced producers.
How to find producer visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it practical to search for producer roles in Ohio without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by state and role type to surface relevant openings at broadcast companies, agencies, and production studios across Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. Migrate Mate also provides guidance on which employers have an active history of H-1B and O-1 visa filings for production roles.
Are there state-specific factors that affect producer visa sponsorship in Ohio?
Ohio's Motion Picture Tax Credit program incentivizes film and television production in the state, which periodically increases demand for experienced producers and can create sponsorship opportunities on project-based contracts. However, project-based H-1B positions require the employer to demonstrate specialty occupation status for the specific role, which can be more complex to establish for general production work. Producers with specialized skills in areas like post-production supervision or executive producing tend to have stronger sponsorship cases in Ohio's market.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored producer jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
