Which companies sponsor visas for real estate roles in New York?
Large commercial real estate firms with established legal and HR infrastructure are the most consistent sponsors. CBRE, JLL, Cushman and Wakefield, Brookfield Asset Management, and Tishman Speyer have all filed H-1B petitions for roles in New York. Real estate investment trusts and private equity firms with significant New York portfolios also sponsor for analytical and finance-adjacent positions.
Which visa types are most common for real estate roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for real estate professionals in New York, typically covering roles that require a specialized degree, such as financial analysts, asset managers, urban planners, and data analysts within real estate platforms. The O-1A is an option for professionals with demonstrated distinction in the field. Some intracompany roles at multinational firms may qualify for an L-1 visa.
How to find real estate visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically to show employers who sponsor visas, including real estate roles across New York. Rather than manually screening hundreds of postings, you can search by role type and state to surface positions at firms like CBRE, JLL, or real estate investment platforms that have a documented sponsorship history. It is the most direct way to target New York real estate openings by sponsorship status.
Which cities in New York have the most real estate sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan concentrates the largest share of sponsored real estate roles, particularly in commercial real estate, asset management, and real estate private equity. Brooklyn has grown as a hub for development and property technology companies. Long Island City and Midtown remain active for corporate real estate operations. Outside New York City, Buffalo and Albany have smaller but active commercial real estate markets with occasional sponsorship activity.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for real estate visa sponsorship?
New York's prevailing wage requirements under H-1B rules are benchmarked to one of the highest cost-of-labor markets in the country, which means employers must certify competitive compensation through the Department of Labor's Labor Condition Application process. Real estate roles that blend finance, data, or technology functions, such as acquisitions analysts or proptech product managers, tend to be more straightforwardly classified as specialty occupations than sales-oriented positions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored real estate jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
