Which companies sponsor visas for tax consultants in New York?
The Big Four accounting firms, Deloitte, PwC, Ernst & Young, and KPMG, are among the most consistent sponsors of international tax consultants in New York, with large practices concentrated in Midtown Manhattan. Mid-size firms such as BDO, Grant Thornton, and RSM also have active New York offices that have historically filed visa petitions for qualified international candidates in tax advisory and compliance roles.
Which visa types are most common for tax consultant roles in New York?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for tax consultants in New York, given that the role typically requires at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or taxation. Some candidates also enter through the O-1A for those with exceptional professional recognition. Candidates already authorized through OPT or STEM OPT sometimes transition to H-1B sponsorship once they secure a full-time offer with a sponsoring employer.
Which cities in New York have the most tax consultant sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the large majority of tax consultant sponsorship opportunities in New York, driven by the concentration of multinational corporations, financial institutions, and major accounting firm headquarters. White Plains in Westchester County has a smaller but active cluster of regional firm offices. Buffalo and Albany have public accounting presence, though international sponsorship activity in those markets is considerably less frequent than in New York City.
How to find tax consultant visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters tax consultant roles in New York by visa sponsorship eligibility, saving significant time compared to broad job searches. You can browse current openings from firms that have a documented history of sponsoring international hires in tax and accounting. Filtering by New York state on Migrate Mate surfaces both Big Four opportunities and regional firm postings actively seeking credentialed international candidates.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for tax consultant visa sponsorship?
New York State imposes its own income tax obligations, and employers sponsoring tax consultants must meet the Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements specific to the New York metropolitan statistical area, which are among the higher benchmarks nationally given local cost of living. Candidates with credentials such as the CPA license, or who are pursuing New York State CPA licensure, tend to be more competitive for sponsorship since many firms tie visa sponsorship decisions to long-term career viability within the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax consultant jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
