Which companies sponsor visas for cloud engineers in North Carolina?
Several large employers in North Carolina have active H-1B sponsorship histories for cloud engineering roles. These include Red Hat and Lenovo in the Research Triangle, Cisco's Research Triangle Park offices, Bank of America and Wells Fargo in Charlotte, and SAS Institute in Cary. Large healthcare systems like Duke Health and UNC Health also sponsor cloud infrastructure roles tied to their technology modernization programs.
Which visa types are most common for cloud engineer roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa for cloud engineers in North Carolina, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Some candidates enter through L-1B intracompany transfers at multinational firms like Lenovo or Cisco. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying credentials.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most cloud engineer sponsorship jobs?
Research Triangle Park and the surrounding cities of Raleigh, Durham, and Cary account for the highest concentration of cloud engineer sponsorship activity in North Carolina, driven by the density of tech and biotech employers in that corridor. Charlotte follows closely due to its financial sector, where banks and fintechs run significant cloud infrastructure teams. Smaller pockets of activity exist in Greensboro and Charlotte's growing startup ecosystem.
How to find cloud engineer visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse cloud engineer roles in North Carolina without sifting through positions that won't support your visa. Search by role and state to see active openings at employers with verified sponsorship histories. This is especially useful for targeting Research Triangle Park and Charlotte employers who consistently hire international cloud engineering talent.
Are there any state-specific factors cloud engineers should know about sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina's Research Triangle is home to several universities, including NC State, Duke, and UNC Chapel Hill, which feed a strong local pipeline of international students entering cloud engineering on OPT. Employers in the area are familiar with the OPT-to-H-1B transition, which makes the sponsorship conversation more routine than in less tech-dense states. The region's mix of enterprise tech, fintech, and life sciences creates demand across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud skill sets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud engineer jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
