Which companies in North Carolina sponsor visas for data contributor roles?
SAS Institute, Lenovo, Red Hat, and Fidelity Investments are among the North Carolina employers that have filed for work visas in data-related roles. Research universities such as Duke, UNC Chapel Hill, and NC State also hire international workers for data contributor positions, often tied to funded research projects or academic departments with ongoing data collection needs.
Which visa types are most common for data contributor jobs in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for data contributor roles in North Carolina, provided the position qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as computer science, information systems, or statistics. OPT and STEM OPT are also common entry points for recent graduates from North Carolina's research universities before transitioning to employer-sponsored status.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most data contributor visa sponsorship jobs?
The Research Triangle area, covering Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, concentrates the largest share of data contributor sponsorship activity in North Carolina. Charlotte is a secondary hub, particularly in financial services and healthcare data roles. Smaller but active markets include Cary, where SAS Institute is headquartered, and Winston-Salem, which has growing healthcare and life sciences data operations.
How to find data contributor visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find data contributor roles in North Carolina without sorting through positions that don't sponsor. You can search by state and role type to surface active openings from employers in the Research Triangle, Charlotte, and other North Carolina markets that are actively filing for work authorization.
Are there state-specific considerations for data contributor roles in North Carolina?
North Carolina's concentration of major research universities creates a strong pipeline for international data contributors, with many employers familiar with OPT-to-H-1B transitions. The state's life sciences and technology sectors, anchored by Research Triangle Park, tend to have established immigration compliance processes. Employers filing H-1B petitions must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the specific role and geographic area within the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data contributor jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
