Tips for Finding H-2B Sponsorship Jobs in North Carolina
Target coastal and mountain resort employers
The Outer Banks and Asheville mountain resort corridor generate consistent H-2B demand each spring. Hospitality employers in these areas file petitions early, so identifying and contacting them in the fall positions you well before the season opens.
Understand the employer petition timeline
H-2B employers must file petitions months before the start date. In North Carolina, most seasonal employers begin this process in October or November for summer positions, so you need to connect with potential sponsors well before job listings appear publicly.
Search DOL H-2B disclosure data for active NC sponsors
The Department of Labor publishes H-2B Labor Condition Application filings, which list employers who have previously sponsored workers. Searching this data for North Carolina gives you a verified list of companies with a history of H-2B sponsorship.
Focus on landscaping and groundskeeping companies
Landscaping is consistently one of North Carolina's largest H-2B occupational categories. Mid-size landscaping firms across the Charlotte suburbs, Raleigh-Durham, and Wilmington frequently file for seasonal crews each spring and are worth targeting directly.
Use Migrate Mate to filter jobs by H-2B sponsorship
Browsing general job boards makes it hard to identify which employers will actually sponsor. Migrate Mate filters listings to show only roles with visa sponsorship, saving time when you're specifically searching for H-2B opportunities in North Carolina.
Contact seafood and food processing employers directly
Eastern North Carolina has a cluster of seafood processing and crabbing operations that rely on H-2B workers each season. These employers often recruit through direct outreach rather than public listings, so calling or emailing them early in the fall produces better results.

Which industries in North Carolina sponsor the most H-2B visas?
Landscaping and groundskeeping, coastal hospitality, seafood processing, and amusement and recreational services are the dominant H-2B visa sponsoring industries in North Carolina. The Outer Banks resort corridor, mountain lodges around Asheville, and seafood operations in the eastern part of the state account for a significant share of filings each year.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most H-2B sponsorship jobs?
The highest concentrations of H-2B sponsoring employers are found in the Outer Banks towns such as Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head, Asheville and surrounding Buncombe County, and the greater Charlotte metro for landscaping. Wilmington and New Bern also see seasonal hospitality and marine industry filings each year.
What types of roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship in North Carolina?
Roles that qualify are temporary, non-agricultural, and seasonal in nature. In North Carolina this includes housekeeping and front desk staff at resort properties, landscaping crew workers, seafood processing laborers, amusement ride operators, and groundskeeping technicians. The employer must demonstrate that qualified U.S. workers are not available for the position before a petition is approved.
How do I find H-2B jobs in North Carolina?
Start by searching DOL H-2B disclosure data to identify North Carolina employers with a history of sponsorship, then reach out directly before their filing window opens. Migrate Mate also filters job listings by visa sponsorship type, making it straightforward to browse H-2B-eligible roles in North Carolina without sorting through positions that do not offer sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
