Which hospitality companies sponsor H-2B visas in North Carolina?
Resort and hotel operators are the most active H-2B visa sponsors in North Carolina. Properties in the Blue Ridge Mountains and Outer Banks file petitions regularly for seasonal staff. The Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, and various coastal resort groups have appeared in Department of Labor H-2B disclosure data. Larger hotel management companies operating multiple North Carolina properties also tend to file H-2B petitions more consistently than independent operators.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most hospitality H-2B sponsorship jobs?
Asheville draws the most H-2B activity among North Carolina cities, driven by its year-round resort and mountain tourism industry. Along the coast, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, and Wilmington see strong seasonal demand from beach resort operators, particularly for summer hiring cycles. Concord, home to Great Wolf Lodge, and the Pinehurst area, which hosts major golf resorts, are also consistent sources of H-2B hospitality petitions in the state.
How do I find hospitality H-2B sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers looking for H-2B sponsorship and filters listings by visa type, industry, and state. For hospitality H-2B jobs in North Carolina, you can search by state and filter to H-2B to see which employers are actively hiring. Because H-2B positions are tied to specific petition windows, checking Migrate Mate early in the hiring cycle, typically late summer through fall for the following summer season, gives you the best chance of finding open roles.
What types of hospitality roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship in North Carolina?
H-2B sponsorship in North Carolina's hospitality industry most commonly covers housekeepers, room attendants, food and beverage servers, dishwashers, line cooks, front desk agents, and grounds or landscaping crew attached to resort properties. These roles qualify because they are tied to a genuine temporary or seasonal need, such as a summer beach season or a winter ski or holiday period, and employers must demonstrate they cannot fill them with U.S. workers.
Are there any North Carolina-specific considerations for H-2B hospitality sponsorship?
North Carolina's H-2B hospitality demand splits into two distinct seasonal peaks: a summer coastal season concentrated along the Outer Banks and Brunswick County beaches, and a year-round mountain resort season centered around Asheville and the High Country. Employers must file petitions well in advance of each season, and H-2B cap limitations mean some petitions get caught in the annual cap lottery. Workers should confirm their employer has an approved, cap-exempt petition before making any travel plans.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B hospitality jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
