Which technology companies sponsor Green Card visas in North Dakota?
Fargo-based employers are the primary source of technology Green Card sponsorship in North Dakota. Microsoft has a significant Fargo presence and a well-documented history of sponsoring software engineers and IT professionals. Sanford Health and Essentia Health sponsor Green Cards for health IT and data roles. Smaller software firms and agricultural technology companies such as Appareo Systems and Bobcat's technology division also appear in PERM labor certification filings.
Which cities in North Dakota have the most technology Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Fargo accounts for the large majority of technology Green Card sponsorship activity in North Dakota, driven by its concentration of software companies, a Microsoft campus, and proximity to North Dakota State University. Bismarck has a smaller but active technology sector centered on state government IT and healthcare systems. Grand Forks sees some activity tied to the University of North Dakota and defense-adjacent technology contractors.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in North Dakota?
Roles that require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field are the most straightforward to sponsor under the EB-2 or EB-3 categories. Software engineers, data analysts, cloud infrastructure engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and health informatics professionals appear frequently in North Dakota PERM filings. Generalist IT support roles with flexible degree requirements can face additional scrutiny during the PERM process because the position must demonstrably require a degree.
How do I find technology Green Card sponsorship jobs in North Dakota?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by North Dakota, the technology industry, and Green Card sponsorship to see verified employers who have sponsored international workers before. This is meaningfully more targeted than a general job search because sponsorship history is baked into the results. Fargo-area employers and remote-friendly North Dakota companies both appear, giving you a realistic picture of where sponsorship actually happens in the state.
Are there any state-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in technology roles in North Dakota?
North Dakota's technology sector is smaller than coastal markets, which has practical implications for Green Card sponsorship. Fewer employers means fewer companies with established immigration infrastructure, so PERM labor certification timelines and processes may be less routine for some hiring managers. Prevailing wage determinations for Fargo and Bismarck reflect local markets rather than national tech hubs. Candidates should confirm early in the hiring process whether a prospective employer has sponsored Green Cards before and has retained immigration counsel.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card technology jobs in North Dakota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
