Tips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship Jobs in North Dakota
Target energy sector employers in the Williston Basin
Oil and gas companies operating in the Bakken Formation regularly sponsor engineers, geologists, and technical specialists for Green Cards. These employers have established immigration processes and sponsor repeatedly, making them reliable targets for permanent residency pathways.
Focus on healthcare shortages in rural and mid-sized cities
North Dakota faces persistent physician, nurse practitioner, and allied health shortages outside Fargo. Rural healthcare systems frequently pursue PERM-based Green Card sponsorship to retain international talent who fill roles that are genuinely difficult to staff domestically.
Look for PERM-filed roles in agriculture and food processing
Agribusiness companies and food processing facilities in North Dakota have a history of sponsoring skilled workers through the EB-3 category. Operations managers, food scientists, and agricultural engineers are among the roles that appear in PERM filings from this sector.
Search Migrate Mate for employer-sponsored roles in North Dakota
Migrate Mate filters job listings by visa type, including Green Card sponsorship, so you can browse North Dakota opportunities without sifting through roles that won't support permanent residency. It saves significant time when the state's job market is spread across multiple industries.
Research employers through DOL PERM disclosure data
The Department of Labor publishes PERM application data showing which North Dakota employers have filed labor certifications. Reviewing this data helps you identify companies with active sponsorship histories before applying, so you can prioritize outreach strategically.
Engage directly with Fargo's technology and professional services employers
Fargo has developed a notable professional services and technology cluster. Mid-sized firms in software development, financial services, and engineering consulting in the region have become more active Green Card sponsors as competition for skilled workers has increased.

Which industries in North Dakota sponsor the most Green Card visas?
Energy and oil extraction, healthcare, agriculture and food processing, and engineering services account for the largest share of Green Card sponsorship in North Dakota. The Bakken oil fields drive significant EB-2 and EB-3 filings for technical roles, while healthcare employers across the state sponsor physicians and advanced practice nurses to address ongoing workforce shortages.
Which cities in North Dakota have the most Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Fargo has the highest concentration of Green Card sponsorship activity, driven by its professional services, healthcare, and technology employers. Bismarck follows with government-adjacent industries and healthcare systems. Williston, despite its smaller size, produces meaningful sponsorship volume through energy sector employers operating in and around the Bakken Formation.
What types of roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in North Dakota?
Roles that qualify most often are those requiring specialized education or where employers can demonstrate domestic recruitment efforts fell short. In North Dakota, this includes petroleum engineers, civil and environmental engineers, physicians and nurse practitioners, agricultural scientists, software developers, and operations managers in food manufacturing. These positions align with both EB-2 and EB-3 category requirements under the PERM process.
How do I find Green Card sponsorship jobs in North Dakota?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, including Green Card sponsorship, and lets you filter directly for North Dakota roles. Beyond that, reviewing DOL PERM disclosure data reveals which North Dakota employers have a documented history of filing labor certifications, giving you a targeted list of companies worth approaching directly.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card jobs in North Dakota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
