Which finance companies in Ohio sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas?
Ohio-headquartered financial institutions with documented STEM OPT hiring include KeyCorp and Fifth Third Bank, both of which have filed Labor Condition Applications for quantitative and technology-adjacent finance roles. JPMorgan Chase and other large banks with significant Ohio operations also hire F-1 STEM OPT workers in analytics and risk functions. Sponsorship availability varies by role and team, so confirming with individual employers is essential.
Which Ohio cities have the most finance F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Columbus is Ohio's largest finance employment center, home to major bank operations, fintech firms, and insurance companies with recurring STEM OPT hiring. Cleveland has a concentrated banking and wealth management sector, particularly around the East Fourth Street financial district, with employers such as KeyCorp headquartered there. Cincinnati's finance industry, anchored by Fifth Third Bank and a growing fintech presence, rounds out the three strongest markets for F-1 STEM OPT candidates.
What types of finance roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify must fall under a STEM-designated Classification of Instructional Programs code tied to the student's degree. In finance, this typically covers quantitative analyst, financial data scientist, risk modeling analyst, and financial technology engineer positions, where the work is analytically intensive and the degree is in a STEM-classified field such as financial mathematics, computational finance, or applied statistics. General business finance roles may not qualify if the underlying degree program lacks a STEM designation.
How do I find finance F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate lets you filter job listings specifically by visa type and state, so you can search for finance roles in Ohio that are open to F-1 STEM OPT candidates without manually screening each employer. The platform surfaces positions from companies with verified sponsorship activity, which is especially useful in Ohio's finance sector where sponsorship practices vary widely between large banks, regional firms, and fintech startups. Checking employer OPT hiring history through Migrate Mate before applying can save significant time.
Are there state-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Ohio's finance industry?
Ohio does not impose additional state-level work authorization requirements beyond federal STEM OPT rules, but finance employers in the state are subject to federal E-Verify obligations for STEM OPT workers, meaning your employer must be enrolled in E-Verify before you can begin a STEM OPT extension. Ohio's concentration of federally regulated banks also means many finance employers are already E-Verify participants, which can streamline the extension process compared to industries where enrollment is less common.
