Which technology companies in Ohio sponsor Green Card visas?
Several large Ohio-based employers have established records of Green Card sponsorship in technology. Nationwide Insurance, Progressive, Huntington Bancshares, and Cardinal Health regularly file PERM labor certifications for technical roles. Ohio's growing Columbus tech corridor also includes companies like Root Insurance and CoverMyMeds. Consulting firms and defense contractors with Ohio operations, such as Booz Allen Hamilton and Leidos, also sponsor technology workers through EB-2 and EB-3 categories.
Which cities in Ohio have the most technology Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Columbus concentrates the largest share of Ohio's technology Green Card sponsorship activity, driven by its finance, insurance, and healthcare IT sectors. Cleveland is a secondary hub, particularly for roles tied to healthcare systems like Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals. Cincinnati supports sponsorship through its manufacturing technology and consumer goods companies. All three metros have growing startup ecosystems that, while less consistent with sponsorship, do file PERM applications for senior technical roles.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Ohio?
Roles that require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field are the strongest candidates. Software engineers, data scientists, cloud architects, cybersecurity analysts, and IT systems managers commonly appear in Ohio PERM filings. Positions tied to enterprise software, financial technology, and healthcare IT are particularly active. Roles where the employer can demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available, a prerequisite of the PERM process, tend to be highly specialized or senior-level.
How do I find technology Green Card sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by Ohio, Green Card sponsorship, and the technology industry to see verified sponsorship-eligible listings without manually sifting through postings from employers who don't sponsor. Because Green Card sponsorship requires significant employer commitment, targeting companies with documented PERM filing histories in Ohio is more effective than applying broadly. Migrate Mate surfaces those employers, saving significant time in your job search.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in technology?
Ohio does not impose state-level immigration requirements beyond federal law, but the PERM process requires employers to conduct a genuine recruitment effort in the local labor market before sponsoring. In Ohio's technology sector, this means employers in Columbus and Cleveland must advertise roles publicly and document that no qualified local candidates applied. Ohio's comparatively lower cost of living relative to coastal tech hubs means some employers are more willing to meet prevailing wage requirements, which the Department of Labor sets based on local market data.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card technology jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
