Which companies sponsor visas for service technicians in Ohio?
Ohio employers with documented H-1B and other work visa sponsorship for technical roles include Honda Manufacturing of America (Marysville), Whirlpool's Ohio operations, Siemens, and large healthcare systems such as Cleveland Clinic and OhioHealth. Industrial automation and medical device companies in the Columbus and Dayton metro areas also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data as recurring sponsors for hands-on technical positions.
Which visa types are most common for service technician roles in Ohio?
H-1B is the most common visa for service technician roles that require a bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field, such as electrical engineering or mechanical technology. Roles that don't meet specialty occupation standards may qualify under TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals if the position aligns with an eligible TN category. Some employers also sponsor EB-3 immigrant visas for skilled workers in longer-term placements.
Which cities in Ohio have the most service technician sponsorship jobs?
Columbus is Ohio's largest job market for service technicians and sees the most sponsorship activity, driven by its healthcare, technology, and manufacturing base. Cleveland follows closely, with demand tied to its industrial and medical device sectors. Dayton has a strong aerospace and defense maintenance presence, while Toledo and Cincinnati attract technicians for automotive and consumer goods manufacturing operations.
How to find service technician visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is a job board specifically built for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can filter directly for service technician roles in Ohio to see employers actively open to sponsoring work visas. This saves significant time compared to screening generic listings, since every role on Migrate Mate is tagged for sponsorship eligibility rather than requiring you to confirm it separately with each employer.
What should international service technicians know about working in Ohio?
Ohio's prevailing wage requirements under H-1B rules mean employers must pay the federally determined rate for the specific service technician occupation and geographic area, not simply a market average. Technicians working in regulated industries like medical equipment or utilities may also need state licensure or certification before starting work. Confirming that your specific technical credentials align with the job description is important, since visa petitions are evaluated on the degree-to-role match.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored service technician jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
