Which companies sponsor visas for cloud software engineers in Oklahoma?
Several Oklahoma-based employers have sponsored cloud software engineers in recent years, including American Fidelity Assurance, ONEOK, Williams Companies, and Love's Travel Stops, which have all invested in cloud and digital transformation initiatives. Federal contractors operating in the Tinker Air Force Base corridor around Oklahoma City also hire cloud engineers and have established H-1B visa sponsorship processes, though sponsorship availability varies by role and business need.
Which visa types are most common for cloud software engineer roles in Oklahoma?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for cloud software engineers in Oklahoma, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT authorization through Oklahoma universities can begin work before H-1B sponsorship is completed. The O-1A is an option for engineers with documented exceptional contributions, and the TN visa applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles.
How to find cloud software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship willingness, making it easier to identify Oklahoma employers actively open to sponsoring cloud software engineers rather than sifting through general job postings. You can search by role and state to surface opportunities at companies in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and the broader energy and aerospace tech sectors. Migrate Mate also provides context on typical sponsorship timelines and requirements for cloud engineering roles.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most cloud software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City accounts for the largest share of cloud software engineering sponsorship activity, driven by its concentration of corporate headquarters in energy, insurance, and logistics as well as proximity to federal facilities at Tinker Air Force Base. Tulsa is the second-largest hub, with Williams Companies and ONEOK anchoring significant technology teams. Norman and Stillwater see smaller but growing activity connected to University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University research and startup ecosystems.
Are there state-specific considerations for cloud software engineers seeking sponsorship in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B positions are set at the federal level using Department of Labor wage surveys, and cloud software engineer roles in Oklahoma City and Tulsa generally fall at lower wage tiers compared to coastal tech markets, which can make sponsorship more accessible for some employers covering those costs. The state's energy sector increasingly demands cloud skills in areas like IoT, pipeline data management, and industrial automation, giving engineers with domain knowledge alongside cloud credentials a meaningful advantage when pursuing sponsorship at Oklahoma-based companies.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud software engineer jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
