Which companies sponsor visas for social workers in Oklahoma?
The largest sponsors tend to be hospital systems such as INTEGRIS Health and OU Health, tribal nation enterprises including Cherokee Nation Behavioral Health, and state-contracted child welfare agencies. Community mental health centers and federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) operating across rural Oklahoma also file H-1B and J-1 petitions for licensed clinical social workers when domestic hiring pools are insufficient.
Which visa types are most common for social work roles in Oklahoma?
The H-1B is the most common route for clinical social workers holding a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree, as USCIS recognizes licensed clinical social work as a specialty occupation. The J-1 exchange visitor visa appears frequently in medical and psychiatric settings affiliated with teaching hospitals. EB-3 immigrant visas are used by some nonprofit and healthcare employers for permanent placement of experienced social workers.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most social work sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City and Tulsa account for the majority of sponsored social work positions, driven by their concentration of hospital systems, behavioral health networks, and nonprofit agencies. Tahlequah and the northeastern corner of the state see additional hiring through Cherokee Nation programs. Lawton and Norman also generate openings tied to military family services and university-affiliated counseling and welfare programs.
How to find social work visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, making it straightforward to browse social work openings in Oklahoma without sifting through postings that don't support international candidates. You can narrow results by city, employer type, or role level, covering clinical, school, and community-based positions across the state. Creating a profile on Migrate Mate also surfaces relevant Oklahoma listings as they are added.
Are there state-specific factors that affect social work visa sponsorship in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma requires independent licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs) to complete state board licensure, which employers sponsoring H-1B petitions must account for when establishing specialty occupation status. Tribal nation employers operate under federal jurisdiction and follow their own HR structures, which can affect how sponsorship is initiated. Rural health shortage designations across much of Oklahoma may improve J-1 waiver eligibility for social workers completing exchange programs at qualifying facilities.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored social work jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
